Random checks on foodstuff to continue: Municipality

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The Public Relations Department of the Kuwait Municipality has affirmed inspectors in cooperation with the supervisory authority of the Municipality will continue to carry out random checks on all food outlets to ensure foodstuffs are handled and stored in line with set standards at all stores of the cooperative societies, restaurants, groceries and other food outlets in the interests of the safety of consumers, reports Al- Qabas daily. The Municipality Emergency Team of the Mubarak Al-Kabir branch headed by Abdullah Al- Lamei’ said between June 10 and June 23 the team visited some foodstuff factories and sales outlets in Sabhan and damaged 85 kilos of expired foodstuff. This is in addition to issuing eight citations for committing various kinds of violations including the sale of expired foodstuff and not carrying health certificates

Syrian in thefts: The Ahmadi police have arrested an unidentified Syrian for committing 16 theft cases, reports Al-Shahed daily. The arrest came after several people filed complaints with the area police station about valuables being stolen from their cars. Police investigations led to the suspect and during interrogation he is said to have confessed to 16 car break-ins.

Wanted Syrian held: An unidentified Syrian who was wanted by law in connection with five cases including swindling and betrayal of trust, has been referred to the concerned authorities, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added the suspect was arrested during a routine security check in Fintas
