Number of citizens on employment waiting list reaches over 16,500 1,925 candidates refused job offers

KUWAIT CITY, July 4: The Director of Manpower Registration at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Faisal Al-Bassam says the number of individuals who have registered in the central employment system and are on the employment waiting list has reached 16,543.

Among the registered applicants, 508 are above 60 years old and 2,997 are above 40 years old. In a press statement, Al-Bassam indicated that about 1,925 registered candidates have refused a few times to assume the jobs they were assigned while about 9,856 candidates were rejected in several governmental establishments for reasons that CSC did not reveal.

Al-Bassam said the total number of employment candidates for 2013 was 6,993 out of which 2,396 are university graduates, 1,911 are diploma holders and 1,821 hold high school certificates. He added 5,547 candidates hold primary qualifications, 4,342 below primary qualifications and 509 with qualifications that are yet to be accredited. Al-Bassam indicated that his department registers those who seek employment based on a pre-allotted mechanism, which aims to solve the unemployment problem in the country.
