Syrian caught with $33,600 on airport

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: An unidentified Syrian who was caught at the Kuwait International Airport with $33,600 has been arrested and handed over to the concerned authorities, reports Al- Shahed daily.

The daily added, the money was hidden in the baggage and the man was picked just before he boarded the outbound plane and charged with money laundering because a Kuwaiti law does not permit passengers to carry with them more than $10,645. It has been also reported the Syrian during preliminary interrogations failed to disclose the source of the money.

US currency forged: Police are looking for three people for forging US currency notes, reports Al-Shahed daily. This happened after a Kuwaiti filed a complaint with the police accusing three persons, one of them an Egyptian of forging money. The complainant said he gave the suspect KD 9,000 to exchange the money into dollars and the suspect reportedly gave him $9,200 and returned KD 3,763 saying they have run out of dollars. However, after the deal was done, the Kuwaiti discovered he was given forged currency bills.
