‘Firms hiring people with special needs receive material support’

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: Head of the Public Authority for Handicapped Affairs Dr Jassem Al-Tammar affirmed that law of the handicapped obliges the public and private institutions employing more than fifty workers to create vacancy for at least four percent of the people with special needs, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

Dr Al-Tammar added that government provides motivational programs for institutions that adhere to the provisions pertaining to handicapped people, and the companies which employ more people with special needs get material support.

He pointed out that the authority publicizes such institutions in various platforms, including ceremonies, interviews, advertisement programs and other activities, also mentions them in all reports that are referred to the cabinet. He said this at the sidelines of a meeting with the representatives of private companies and institutions dubbed ‘’toward partnership between public and private sector to equip the handicapped and integrate them in society’’.

Al-Tammar noted there will be constant communication between the authority and private institutions to follow up on what the private sector is providing by employing the people with special needs, while making available necessary information on the category to the sector, seeing most employers might lack information on the academic credentials of the people with special needs.
