Power outage hits hospitals

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: Director of Sabah Health District Dr Adel Al-Asfour has affirmed that the power outage experienced at the Maternity and Chest hospitals on Friday did not cause any problem or affect activities in the hospitals, reports Al-Anba daily.

Al-Asour revealed the power outage, which occurred at around 10:30 am on Friday, was due to electrical fault at the Ministry of Electricity and Water. He assured the concerned officials have dealt with the situation, while the hospitals used power generators during the outage. He said similar problems have been happening repeatedly due to the ongoing construction works within the area.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will soon issue a ministerial decision to appoint Technical Affairs Director Dr Majidah Al-Qattan as Assistant Undersecretary for Support Medical Services. The nomination will be ratified in the second meeting of the concerned committee on Monday, and this is the first time for a woman to occupy such a post in the ministry.
