Citizens, expatriates wish to see development of beaches Bid to attract global tourists

KUWAIT CITY, June 25: A group of citizens and expatriates wish to see development of beaches in Kuwait through the establishment of resorts along the waterfront which extends up to 120 miles. They believe the project, once completed, will attract tourists from different countries, while encouraging citizens and expatriates to spend their summer holidays in Kuwait instead of traveling abroad.

They argued if the Gulf beaches are on par with those in other countries, then they should be put into good use. On the other hand, economic expert Hajaj Bu Khudar said Kuwaitis spend a total of almost a billion dollars for summer vacations abroad. He asserted Kuwait has the ability to develop tourist destinations, especially along the waterfront where the weather is good at night. He believes the existence of several beaches in Kuwait could attract tourists, including other GCC nationals, Arabs and businesspersons.
