Former speaker Kharafi files case

KUWAIT CITY, June 24: The former parliament speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi has filed a case against Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad, accusing him of spreading false rumors, giving false testimony and publishing fabricated video clips. Representing the former speaker, Lawyer Louay Jassem Al-Kharafi submitted the case to the Public Prosecution, accusing Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad of spreading false news inside and outside Kuwait. He based his accusations on Article 15 of Law 31/1970 regarding State Security crimes inside and outside Kuwait and Article 145 of the Penal Code for the crime of reporting false news, which is based on.

Lawyer Al-Kharafi requested the Public Prosecution to investigate the case and submitted evidences that documented the words and actions of Sheikh Fahad such as his statement given to the Public Prosecution when under oath, his confessions during a TV interview and press conferences, his behavior in the society, his contracts with foreign companies and the payments he made for creating and uploading fabricated video clips.

Meanwhile, former MP Musallam Al- Barrak has failed to appear for the second time before the investigative authority in relation to a case which was filed against him by the Head of Supreme Judicial Council Judge Faisal Al-Murshid and two other judges regarding false allegations on forged transaction documents.
