Death upheld in mall murder; Bedoun to die for killing boss

KUWAIT CITY, June 23: The Court of Appeals presided over by Judge Najeeb Al-Mulla has upheld the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance which sentenced a youth to death for deliberately and publicly murdering a Lebanese doctor at the Avenues Mall. In addition, the court revoked the death sentence that the First Instance Court issued against the second, third and fourth suspects involved in the murder case. It instead sentenced them to life imprisonment.

The first suspect had earlier admitted to committing the crime that led to the death of the victim. Lawyer Ibrahim Al-Kandari said the issuance of death sentence affirms that the judiciary’s fairness in dealing with those who spread fear among the people. Meanwhile, the Criminal Court sentenced a Bedoun man to death for murdering a 50-year old Kuwaiti citizen.

According to the case files, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information from the employees of a private company about a quarrel in the company, securitymen rushed to the location to discover that a Bedoun man had stabbed and killed the Kuwaiti director of the company during a quarrel about work matters. The suspect was arrested before he escaped from the crime scene.
