7 Yemenis enter Kuwait for ‘begging’

A team of officers from the General Immigration Investigation Department conducted a campaign against beggars under the supervision of the department’s Director General -Major General Ghazi Al- Lamme, reports Al-Seyassah daily, The campaign led to the arrest of seven Yemenis who entered the country illegally to beg. During interrogation, the suspects disclosed they entered the country through Nuweiseeb Port and they hid in trucks to avoid the authorities because they have no legal entry documents. They also admitted to paying some people to enter the country illegally for the purpose of begging in mosques. A case was registered and all the suspects were referred to the concerned security department for legal action.

Also: KUWAIT CITY: Police have arrested a Yemeni man for begging in Souq Mubarakiya, reports Al-Anba daily. The beggar was holding paper that read: “Help me for the sake of God”, and caused inconvenience to visitors when he begged money not less than a quarter of dinar. A visitor informed the police and the beggar was arrested in possession of a large sum of money. He wasn’t holding identification documents at the time of arrest and admitted infiltrating into the country.
