Asian held with 48 bottles liquor; Wanted Nepali held

KUWAIT CITY, June 20: Patrolmen affiliated to Hawalli Security Directorate arrested an Asian expatriate in Hawalli late at night in possession of 48 bottles of local brew ready for sale. Security sources said the officers, while patrolling the area in the night, spotted a Japanese-made vehicle parked beside another vehicle. To their surprise, the suspect tried to escape on foot when the officers approached him for checking, but they managed to hold him. They went ahead to conduct a search inside his vehicle where four boxes containing 48 bottles of localmade liquor were found.

The suspect admitted selling the contraband to his fellow countrymen and was referred with the items to the concerned authority. Meanwhile, personnel from the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control acting on a tip off set a trap for an Asian man and caught him in possession of heroin and narcotic pills, reports Al-Rai daily. He has been handed over to the concerned authorities.

Wanted Nepali held: Immigration officers at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested a 30-year-old Nepali who was wanted by law in connection with fraud and swindling people, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The daily added the man was detained after he arrived from an unidentified GCC state and whisked away for interrogation and handed over to the concerned authorities.
