Security raids in Ahmadi, Hawalli

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: Officers from the Operations Unit at Ahmadi Security Directorate recently launched a series of security campaigns throughout the governorate, reports Al-Seyassah daily. During the crackdown, the officers discovered 213 bottles of liquor, recovered two stolen vehicles; arrested a Kuwaiti with an envelope containing hashish and drug paraphernalia, 12 persons who committed different violations and 63 persons involved in various cases, as well as issued 24 traffic citations. The Public Security Sector confirmed that such campaigns will continue to protect the society.

Meanwhile, officers from the Hawally Security Directorate conducted surprise inspection campaigns from June 8-16, 2014. This led to the arrest of 47 expatriates found to have violated the Residency Law, two persons involved in different cases, and an expatriate with five bags of drugs, two cigarette rolls of hashish and an undisclosed amount in his possession. The campaigns also resulted in the arrest of 51 persons who failed to present valid identification documents and 13 persons involved in drug cases. The officers received 372 distress calls, issued 93 traffic citations, impounded five vehicles, registered 311 road accidents, referred 54 foreigners to the Deportation Department, provided assistance in 205 cases and settled 15 fistfights.

On the other hand, anti-narcotic officers from the Drug Control General Department (DCGD) arrested an Asian for drug trafficking and addiction, in addition to the possession of 80 grams of heroin and 70 grams of marijuana. Acting on a tip-off, the officers arranged an entrapment that led to the arrest of the suspect who confessed to consuming and trading in drugs. A case was registered and he was referred to the relevant security department for the necessary legal action.
