Council okays request to shift embassies from residential areas Call to implement decree No. 125/1992

KUWAIT CITY, June 18: The Municipal Council approved request to transfer or move accredited embassies or consulates in Kuwait’s private residential areas to specified locations such as Da’iya area to help the embassies and consulates match up to their objectives in terms of security and organizational aspects.

At the recent council meeting, several council members called for issuing recommendations to implement decree number 125/1992 which authorizes the Municipal Council to impose fines on landlord who leases a private building for other purposes, except family residence.

They affirmed the presence of embassies and consulates in private residential areas causes nuisance to citizens due to the number of clients that frequent such places on a daily basis. Also, they called for the implementation of ministerial decree number 372/2008 concerning public disturbance and nuisance that negatively affect health.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Council postponed approval of the letter from the Minister of Transportation, State Minister of Municipal Affairs Essa Al-Kandari on minutes of the meeting (10/2014) which took place on 19/5/2014. The council earlier referred to the administrative office of Kuwait Municipality a proposal related to building memorial statues of the Kuwaiti martyrs on a section of the yard opposite the parliament building. Also, the council referred to the Municipal Council another request to honor former members of the council annually whether alive or dead.
