MoH said to leave ‘robots’ imported at KD 300,000 idle ‘Squandering of public funds’

KUWAIT CITY, June 14: In what seems to be a new series of negligence and squandering of public funds in the health sector, sources disclosed the Ministry of Health imported robots worth KD 300,000 three months ago for Adan and Mubarak Al- Kabeer hospitals, as well as Kuwait Cancer Control Center; but these robots have been left idle. Sources said the ministry signed a contract in July 2013 to purchase three robots known as ‘remote presence telemedicine’ to be used in the intensive care units (ICUs) at Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital, Adan Hospital and Maki Jumaa Center for Nuclear Medicine.

Sources affirmed the money spent on these devices does not correspond with expected benefits, especially since similar functions are available in devices worth KD 9,000. Sources added the robot given to Mubarak Al-Kabeer Hospital four months ago has not been used until now
