KUWAIT CITY, June 13: As temperature exceeded 48 degrees Celsius last Monday, the power index leaped to 11,500 megawatts while Ministry of Electricity and Water describes the consumption level as reasonable compared to the total production of 14,500 megawatts, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Reliable sources were quoted as saying the ministry has set a comprehensive plan covering all sectors to guarantee a smooth distribution of electricity and water to consumers in the holy month of Ramadan and throughout summer, besides means of dealing effectively with problems or emergencies during the period.

They added the ministry endeavors to fix all broken down units without delay, particularly with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan when high consumption rates are observed. In the same context, sources said 57 percent of the cases filed against the career title of ‘supervisor’ will be decided by the administrative court before the end of the year, indicating the cases date back to three years, while the delay in verdict is due to routine procedures and appeals.

On the other hand, Attorney Hawraa Al-Habib confirmed the strike embarked upon by employees of the Public Authority for Social Security (PASS) is the result of partiality practiced by the government in approving financial increments for all authorities. In a press statement, she added the protest does not intend to twist government’s arm to achieve certain goals, indicating the employees decided to embark on the protest to ask for their deserved rights.
