Stop recruiting marginal workers abroad: official Employers advised to hire labourers locally

KUWAIT CITY, June 13: Deputy Director General of Public Authority for Manpower Ahmad Al-Mousa issued directives recently directing the concerned Labor Departments to accept the applications of employers to issue work permits for specific professions that are allowed to be hired from abroad, based on the genuine need for workers, reports Anna-har.

The daily quoting a reliable source warned employers on recruiting marginal workers from abroad or bringing in personnel to work for other employers. He added the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has banned the recruitment of specific professions from overseas and advised employers to hire workers from the local market. In another development, the Department of Charities and Foundation sent a memo to the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, State Minister for Planning and Development Hind Al-Subaih, as regards the new system of organizing operations of the charities and foundations for collecting donations in the holy month of Ramadan, reports Al-Jarida daily. Sources explained the system aims to protect the charitable business from elements that seek to distort the image of the department to serve personal interests, adding the step harms Kuwait’s name particularly after the scathing campaign launched by the international community against the country, which they alleged, funds terrorism.

They stressed the minister had given instructions to strictly apply law fairly against those who persistently violate laws by collecting donations through illegal channels and away from the ministry’s surveillance.
