MP’s son jailed for issuing dud cheque Bidhali hearing adjourned

KUWAIT CITY, June 10: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Hisham Al-Abdallah, adjourned until Sept 2 the hearing on a case filed by Attorney Ali Al- Ali against Islamic activist Mubarak Al-Bidhali, accusing him of undermining national unity as he insulted a certain social group and for stirring sedition. In Tuesday’s session, Al-Ali affirmed the accusations leveled against the defendant who, he said, has a record of similar charges. He also provided the court with evidence which was taken from the defendant’s personal Twittter account, in which the defendant used words deemed offensive and demeaning to a certain social layer (Shiite) and for stirring sedition.

MP’s son jailed: The Appeals bench of the Misdemeanor Court recently upheld the verdict of the lower court and sentenced the son of MP Abdulhamid Dashti to two years in prison for issuing a dud cheque for KD 600,000 to lawyer Adel Al-Qarban, reports Al- Seyassah daily.
