‘Anyone who meets conditions can get driving license’ Accident death rate falls: Al-Muhanna

 KUWAIT CITY, June 10: Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Abdullah Al-Muhanna has issued a decision that gives powers to directors of traffic departments in the six governorates to sign the application forms for the issuance of driving licenses, reports Al-Qabas daily.

On the sidelines of the Seventh World Workshop to train cadres in the traffic and transport sector in Kuwait yesterday, Al-Muhanna, said those who meet the conditions of applying for driver’s license, whether a citizen or resident, should go to the traffic departments in the six governorates. He stressed all decisions taken earlier and now are aimed at achieving traffic security.

Meanwhile, Al-Muhanna affirmed that the decision to allow the use of emergency lanes was taken after consulting with concerned authorities, the reports Al-Seyassah daily. Indicating that the right lane is sufficient for the fire engines and ambulances, he stressed on the need for coordination in case they face any obstacles with the use of emergency lanes.

Elaborating on the traffic statistics for year 2013, Major General Al- Muhanna revealed a remarkable decline in the mortality rate due to traffic accidents. He affirmed the determination of the General Traffic Department to continue working on decreasing this rate.

‘Pull Article 17 docus’: The Ministry of Interior issued a directive of withdrawing passport under the Article (17) if presented by holders at police check points as an identification document, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily. It is reported that such step has been taken upon the recommendation of the General Department of Citizenship and Travel Documents.
