1,474 expats deported

KUWAIT CITY, June 8: Statistics issued by the Research and Studies Center at the Ministry of Interior shows 1,474 expatriates — 1,293 men and 181 women — have been deported from the country over the past two years, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The statistics also show 761 other people were deported in 2012 and 713 in 2013. According to statistics, 390 were deported for drugs-related crimes, 326 for committing thefts, 230 bootleggers, 182 for committing fraud, 147 people for rapes and 99 caught committing adultery.

11 held in raid: A surprise inspection campaign launched recently by a team of officers from Ahmadi Security Directorate resulted in the arrest of 11 persons involved in various cases, two Asians with 25 bottles of liquor in their possession, two persons with an undisclosed quantity of shabu and drug paraphernalia, a motorist whose car contained 196 CDs of pornographic films, another motorist found to be in the possession of an unlicensed weapon, sharp objects and drug paraphernalia; in addition to the impounding of two vehicles.

All those arrested during the campaign were referred to the concerned security department for the necessary legal action. The directorate confirmed continuation of the campaign to cover the entire governorate in a bid to track down all law violators and ensure public safety.
