Crackdown on illegals continues - Exercise to cover all governorates CAMPAIGN ALSO TARGETS TRADERS IN EXPIRED FOOD PRODUCTS

KUWAIT CITY, June 7, (KUNA): The Ministry of Interior on Saturday continued its campaign against law violators; leading to the arrest of 811 individuals found to have broken the laws, customs and regulations of Kuwait. In a press statement, Director of the Public Relations and Moral Guidance Department at the ministry Colonel Adel Al-Hashash disclosed the citizens and residents supported the security forces in providing information, tracking down and apprehending offenders.

The wide-scale campaign was conducted through the coordinated efforts of diverse security units in the governorates and police patrols. It covered Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Murghab, Fahaheel, Abu Halifa, Friday Market and some adjacent areas in Shuwaikh.

Al-Hashash said the campaign also targeted those selling expired food products and pirated DVDs; in addition to hawkers and beggars. He affirmed the continuation of such campaigns to track down law violators. He added the campaign was distinguished as it was done according to a well-planned mechanism and through the strong coordination of various security agencies, as well as the monitoring and operation units.

He revealed the authorities used the latest methods and devices to gather information and identify the culprits by looking into criminal records which help the officers assigned in the field to perform their duties quickly and efficiently. He said the Security Media Department will continue raising public awareness through the presentation of guidance programs to keep the people of Kuwait informed on their responsibilities and roles in supporting the security agencies to maintain public order and guarantee compliance with the law.

He explained this is part of efforts to promote the idea that maintaining security is the responsibility of everyone. He reiterated the campaigns will continue to cover all areas and governorates of Kuwait until the citizens and residents enjoy full security and stability. He pointed out such steps will make the people trust the ability of the Interior Ministry and its officers to secure the entire nation.

The campaign was launched Friday, covering the areas of Al-Rai, Friday Market and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. This resulted in the arrest of 820 people for violating the Residency Law.
