Some tutors make KD 500 per day in rampant private tuition

KUWAIT CITY, June 3: Private tuition has become a widespread phenomenon among students — both the school and college students.

Professor Ghazi Al-Rashidi at the Kuwait University said this phenomenon has of late spread to all areas of Kuwait and a university student ends up paying as much as KD 150 per hour in tuition fee.

Al-Rashidi added some tutors earn about KD 500 dinars a day which works out to KD 15,000 per month during examination time.

He pointed out several teachers have reserved tables at restaurants and cafÈs in the Capital for the entire day where they entertain the students
