Report poll crimes, citizens urged Transparency body formed

KUWAIT CITY, June 2: The Secretary General of Kuwait Transparency Society Majed Al-Mutairi says the society’s board has formed the Civil Commission for Transparent Elections as part of its preparation for supervising the parliamentary by-elections that will be held on June 26, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He revealed that he will be the president of the newly-formed committee while its members will include the constitutional expert Dr Mohammad Al-Feli, Muhannad Al-Misbah, Lawyer Basma Al-Saif and columnist Fahad Al-Raqeeb. Al-Mutairi explained that the committee will coordinate with the concerned authorities such as the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Information and Kuwait Municipality for the management of the by-elections.

Meanwhile, he urged all citizens to report electoral crimes such as buying of votes, subelections, use of religious places such as mosques for inciting people to vote for a particular political bloc, etc.
