‘Bedoun, families protecting late Amir convoy to get nationality’

KUWAIT CITY, June 1: Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior, Acting Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid has asked the Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Citizenship and Passports Affairs Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah to open the files of bedoun (stateless persons) and their families who were part of the convoy protecting the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

The daily added they are four people and two other families who have left the country. They have been summoned by Kuwait and they are expected to be naturalized over the next few weeks. Asenior security source said Major- General Al-Jarrah has requested the Central System for Remedying the Status or Illegal Residents to provide him the names of bedoun who will be granted citizenship in recognition of their sacrifices.
