GTD issues over 45,000 citations 2,159 vehicles seized

KUWAIT CITY, May 31: Officers from the General Traffic Department issued 45,340 traffic citations, seized 2,159 vehicles and 18 motorcycles, arrested 118 motorists and carried out 35 service orders during a series of security campaigns that they launched in all six governorates this week.

According to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, 10,940 traffic citations were issued, 475 vehicles and 11 motorcycles were seized and 10 motorists were arrested in Capital Governorate while in Farwaniya Governorate, 5,800 citations were issued, 180 vehicles were seized and five motorists were arrested.

In Hawally Governorate, 9,440 traffic citations were issued, 231 vehicles were seized and 31 motorists were arrested while in Ahmadi Governorate, 2,676 citations were issued, 48 vehicles were seized and three motorists were arrested. In Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate, 1,567 citations were issued, 279 vehicles were seized and three motorists were arrested while in Jahra Governorate, 2,652 traffic citations were issued and 101 vehicles were seized.

The Operations Unit of General Traffic Department registered 2,667 traffic citations, seized 538 vehicles and seven motorcycles and arrested 54 motorists including a juvenile while the Special Task Force issued 7,420 traffic citations, seized 300 vehicles and arrested 12 motorists. The Special Taskforce conducted technical inspections of 492 vehicles, carried out 35 service orders and attended 200 traffic accidents.
