Campaigns to round up illegal expatriates suspended: report

KUWAIT CITY, May 30: The security authorities have temporarily suspended security campaigns against residence and labor laws violators indefinitely because the police stations and deportation are filled to capacity especially after the decision to restrict administrative deportations, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to the daily reliable security sources said verbal instructions have been issued for officials in the six governorates to put on hold security checks until further notice.

The daily added, there are four main reasons for the suspension of the campaigns — increase in the number of offenders and lack of space at police stations to accommodate them, burden on the State for the repatriating them to their homeland, lack of cooperation from sponsor and respective embassies and the fear of outbreak inside prisons.

The sources confirmed that there are fears about the spread of infectious diseases due to overcrowding inside the prisons.
