Candidate in Sulaibiya co-op poll assaults top officer

KUWAIT CITY, May 29: A lieutenant colonel of the Interior Ministry filed a case against a candidate in the elections of Al-Sulaibiya Cooperative Society and a woman for assault and abuse. In his complaint, the officer said the incident took place while he was monitoring the elections of Sulaibiya cooperative society.

He sustained injuries in the hand and neck, as a woman he accused of forgery was helped to escape. Apparently, an officer working for Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) detected that two certificates were forged, so he requested the owners of the certificates to wait for investigation.

The first woman managed to escape and the second was apprehended. Later on, the aforementioned candidate arrived at the venue and admitted that he paid bribe to the PACI officer to forge two certificates with photos of the women. The candidate is said to have beaten and insulted the lieutenant colonel, as he requested the woman to accompany them to the police station. A case was registered.
