Two-year pay bonus for 25-years service No nod for civilians in MoI

KUWAIT CITY, May 29: Civil Service Commission (CSC) has not approved granting bonuses to civilians working in Ministry of Interior equivalent to bonuses between KD 200 and KD 360 provided to military officials, reports Al-Anba daily quoting informed sources.

They revealed that the Ministers Council has instructed the concerned authorities to take necessary measures for disbursement of merit rewards equivalent to two years salary to officers of ranks Major General, Brigadier and Colonel who retired between July 1, 2004 and August 27, 2008 from Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, National Guard and Kuwait Fire Service Directorate.

They explained that the merit rewards must be equivalent to two years salary as per Law 495/2008, provided the concerned employee spent 25 years in service, adding that employees who served for lesser period will receive lesser merit reward.

Sources indicated that the merit rewards will be granted irrespective of whether the officers are alive or not, adding that 305 officers are expected to receive the rewards prior to Eid after receiving approval of the Ministers Council. They affirmed that the decision was taken after 168 cases were referred to the court seeking for these rewards, adding that CSC held a meeting with the four concerned authorities on May 3 to discuss the disbursement of these rewards.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Public Works has transferred excellent performance bonuses into the bank accounts of about 7,000 heads-of-department and employees based on the conditions allotted by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), reports Al-Seyassah daily quoting informed sources.

In a statement, Assistant Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs of the ministry Hamad Al- Ghareeb announced that the Minister Abdulaziz Al- Ibrahim issued an administrative decision to grant excellent performance bonuses to the deserving employees of Ministry of Public Works for the fiscal year 2013-2014.

He indicated that the total value of the bonuses is about KD 5 million and has been approved based on the conditions of CSC and the Ministry of Public Works. Sources said the employees will receive bonuses ranging between KD 300 - KD 800, while the directors, supervisors and heads of departments will receive bonuses ranging between KD 1,000 - KD 1,500.
