KUWAIT CITY, May 29: A number of units at Al-Zour Power Station malfunctioned for the third time while seven units of the station affiliated to the Ministry of Electricity and Water were out of order for a few days, reports Al-Shahid daily quoting informed sources.

They revealed that several technicians and engineers exerted efforts to control the situation from being aggravated while top officials instructed to keep the incident confidential due to its sensitivity and risk. Sources lamented about the inability of the ministry in handling the problems recurring in the station as well as the lack of necessary emergency and disaster recovery plans.

They explained that the incident led to a loss of nearly 1,200 megawatts of power, adding that this incident as well as the maintenance work of some units in Subbiya Station could negatively affect the supply of necessary power supply to the people of Kuwait during the summer season.
