Factory manufacturing fake perfumes raided Bid to smuggle betel leaves foiled

KUWAIT CITY, May 27: The Tripartite Committee comprising members from the ministries of Health, Interior and Commerce and Industry recently raided a factory manufacturing imitation perfumes in Salmiya and confiscated 254 gallons of ethyl alcohol, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. According to committee members the factory was operating without a licence. Meanwhile, customs officers at the Shuwaikh Port recently foiled an attempt by an unidentified company to smuggle large quantities of beatle leaves and khat into the country, reports Al-Anba daily. The contraband was hidden in a container, allegedly containing goods for a private company, but nobody came to receive the shipment. Police are investigating shipment and the importer.

Forging banknotes: Police are looking for an unidentified person, believed to be a drug addict, for posting a video clip showing him forging KD 20 banknotes, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The alleged forger has also reportedly posted a forged banknote on the site.

Strange trend: A new phenomena is spreading among the youth lately in their zeal to show off and building muscles using steroids, reports al- Shahed daily. A Kuwaiti youth was seen in a wellknown mall recently with a funnylooking shape like a rooster. He had a very muscular top and two thin legs that were not matching his chest.

Coffee shop curbs: Personnel from the Hawalli Municipality during a surprise inspection campaign against coffee shops have issued 20 citations for violating Municipal laws and confiscated a large number of chairs and tables, reports Al- Qabas daily. The daily did not give more details.
