Military officer ‘arrested’ for stealing arms from godown Accused confesses to selling weapons

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: A military officer of rank ‘Vice Corporal’ has been arrested for stealing weapons from the storage area of Private Forces and selling them. In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the Media Security Department explained investigations were launched by the General Department for Criminal Evidences and the General Department for Criminal Security based on directives from the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah.

During investigations, suspicions were raised about a military officer of rank ‘Vice Corporal’ working in the Private Security Forces especially since he was referred to the Public Prosecution two months ago for consuming drugs. During interrogations, the suspect confessed to securitymen that he stole the weapons from the storage area at several occasions and sold them.

Media Security Department declared that the securitymen are currently working on identifying the individuals who purchased the weapons from the suspect, indicating that the weapons will be confiscated after which a report on the incident will be referred to the Minister of Interior. The department assured that a statement will be issued detailing the case after all necessary steps are taken and the case is closed.
