Panel formed to develop teaching license project NUKS UAE branch suspended

KUWAIT CITY, May 23: Director of the National Center for Education Development Dr Ridha Al-Khayyat has disclosed the formation of what he called supreme committee which will be assigned to execute a project called ‘teaching licence’ and set up the applications system and its mechanisms. Dr Al-Khayyat said the licence will contain every minute detail of the holder of the licence — the educational qualifications, work experience, specializations, etc.

The project will be operated in coordination with the Civil Service Commission resolutions and the teachers training institutions and its various aspects concerning the training system of the teachers. Speaking to the press on the sidelines of the discussion session, which was organized by the center to discuss the teachers’ license project; Dr Al- Khayyat pointed out that the project will be gradually implemented taking into account the expatriate teachers and recent graduates followed by the experienced teachers until the entire system is properly implemented. He also indicated the project will need at least six years to bear fruits of the efforts and its effect to be seen on teachers.

The discussion session was attended by officials from the Ministry of Education, the Kuwait University, the faculty of fundamental education and the Kuwait Teachers Society. He indicated, ‘’The license is not an alternative for learning and courses given to just graduate teachers or experienced educators. In fact, the license is linked to the merits schemes and the school administration, in addition to the teacher and the curriculum.” He pointed out, the teaching license project will include sections, different types of specializations and teaching experience, and there will also be a license for recent graduates and license for those who occupy supervisory positions in the area of education.
