Eight Kuwaitis among 100 most powerful personalities Kuwait third richest Arab country: survey

KUWAIT CITY, May 21: Gulf Arab Magazine voted eight Kuwaitis among the 100 most powerful Arab personalities for 2014 compared to 10 Kuwaitis in 2013, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Head of the Board of Directors of Al-Shaya Group Mohamed Al- Shaya was ranked 25th and businesswoman Souad Al-Humaidi 36th among the 100 most powerful Arab personalities this year, while the vice president of Al-Khorafi Group (Industry Sector) Bader Al-Khorafi came 37th and the Chairman of Al-Ghanim Industries Company Omar Al- Ghanim 47th position respectively.

President of Bu Khamseen Group Jawad bu Khamseen was ranked 53rd with the Managing Director of Public Authority for Investment (PAI) Bader Al-Saad, while the Executive Chairman of Boodai Group and Head of the Board of Directors of Al- Jazeera Airlines Marzouq Bodai came 64th.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairperson of National Bank of Kuwait (NBK) was ranked 83rd and chairman of the board of directors and managing director of Global Investment House (GIH) Maha Al-Ghunaim was placed 87th among the 100 most powerful Arab personalities.

Meanwhile, Kuwait is the third richest Arab country and 19th internationally with per capita income of $39,800 according to a report issued by the Global Finance Magazine, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily quoting informed sources.

They explained that United Arab Emirates came second among Arab countries and eighth internationally with per capita income of $49,800 while Saudi Arabia came fourth and 28th internationally with per capita income of $32,400, followed by Oman fifth regionally and 33rd internationally with per capita income of $29,900 and Bahrain sixth regionally and 34th internationally with $29,800.

The wealthiest country among the Arab countries and in the world is Qatar with per capita income of $105,090 followed by Luxemburg $79,500, Singapore $61,500, Norway $56,600, Brunei $55,100, Hong Kong $53,400, USA $51,200, UAE $49,800, Switzerland $46,400 and Australia in tenth place with $44,070.
