Expats suspect as ‘vital items’ stolen from power transformers

KUWAIT CITY, May 18: Some electric equipment from 13 power generators in Egaila, Riqqa and Fahad Al-Ahmad worth KD 700,00 have been stolen and investigations are ongoing to arrest the thieves, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The theft was uncovered when a team from the Technical Section at the Ministry of Electricity inspected changes in some cables near the trees after receiving complaints about diminished power supply from several residents.

They found out some high-quality copper equipment had been stolen. Preliminary investigations revealed the people behind the theft could be expatriates with technical expertise under the sponsorship of contractors, especially since the generators are closed and can be opened only by somebody with technical know-how.
