Indian sought for helping ‘absconders’ find jobs Kuwaiti businessman swindled

KUWAIT CITY, May 18 : Police are looking for an unidentified Indian for ‘helping’ absconding workers get jobs, reports Al-Rai daily. A Kuwaiti man was in need of house help and the suspect said he could provide him a housemaid provided he gets his commission — KD 100.

After paying KD 100 to the Indian, the Kuwaiti discovered the housemaid was reported ‘absconding’ by her sponsor and she was without a residence permit. The Kuwaiti then called the Indian and asked for his money and the latter refused to give the money. The Kuwaiti then filed a complaint with police.

Kuwaiti businessman swindled: Police have arrested an African impostor for swindling a Kuwaiti businessman. The impostor said he wants to build a mosque in his home town and after the Kuwaiti gave him KD 50,000 he refused to answer calls, reports Al-Shahed daily. The Kuwaiti through his lawyer has filed a complaint with the Jabriya Police Station. The lawyer in his complaint said, the suspect instead of leaving for Africa and sending the Kuwaiti reports on the progress of the mosque, stayed in Kuwait and bought a new car. During interrogation the African admitted to buying the new car and sending part of the money to his family.

Egyptian held: The Jahra police have arrested an Egyptian who was wanted by law for committing a financial fraud worth KD 14,000 and violating residence law, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Without going into details, the daily said the Egyptian was arrested inside the Jahra Industrial Area. He has been handed over to the authorities.

Player assaulted: Police have summoned several persons for interrogation for assaulting a handball player from the Al-Qadsiya Club at the end of a match against Salmiya Club, reports Al-Shahed daily. The player had to be operated on one hand and has reportedly received 15 stitches.
