Bid to tackle likely virus spread MoH, private sector to join fight

KUWAIT CITY, May 18: Assistant Undersecretary for Private Medical Service Affairs at the Ministry of Health Dr Mohammad Al-Khashti has confirmed cooperation between the ministry and the private sector to deal with Corona virus outbreak in case it happens in Kuwait, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Al-Khashti also unveiled the ministry’s plan to specify the kinds of dental and cosmetic materials or substances to be allowed in the Kuwaiti market.

Meanwhile, the assistant undersecretary said the Medical Licenses Sector has implemented a computer project to link the private sector with the ministry. He added a new building for the Licenses Administration will be constructed on an area measuring 6,700 square meters with six floors.

Moreover, he affirmed the formation of two committees with the private sector; while the medical error cases are handled by both the public and private sectors, denying claims that the ministry deals with the issue arbitrarily. On another issue, he asserted the decisions of the Obesity Committee are taken according to international studies and follow-up but most patients opt for surgery. He added the proposed insurance hospital is still under study, and there is a plan to increase the number of hospitals within five years to provide better health services to the public.
