Manpower authority reviewing decisions taken by labor sector MoSAL in coordination with IMF organizes workshop

KUWAIT CITY, May 17: The Public Authority for Manpower is currently reviewing decisions taken by the labor sector; such as the issuance of work permits, renewal and transfer of residency, as well as the government contracts, to pave the way for screening the procedures prior to the separation of the Labor Sector from the Ministry of Social Affairs.

According to sources, Director General of the authority Jamal Al-Dosari has had a series of meetings with officials of the authority, ministries of interior, commerce, industry and municipality to establish goals for the separation. Sources added the higher committee formed in 2007 to organize the local labor market, with the minister of social affairs as head and the leaders of the abovementioned institutions as members, will be restructured in such a way that the chairmanship of the panel will be transferred from the minister to the director general of the authority.

Meanwhile, Al-Anba daily has quoted sources as saying that the authority has started taking procedures to transfer the Farwaniya Labor Department from Dajeej to Andalus within 15 days after installation of equipment and the electronic network in the building, Sources also unveiled plans to renovate special halls in the labor departments for the handicapped and elderly, indicating the work will start soon at the Capital Labor Department.

On the other hand, sources said the officials in the Ministry of Social Affairs will be reshuffled; indicating the director of an administration at the Social Development Sector will be transferred to the Research Department in the Administrative and Planning Sector. In the meantime, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, in coordination with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), organized recently a workshop entitled, “Design and Implementation of Active and Flexible Security Network”, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. The concluding ceremony for the five-day workshop was held under the auspices of Undersecretary of the ministry Abdulmohsen Al-Muteiri with the attendance of IMF representative Sert Nossor and representatives of many countries. Speaking at the event, Al- Muteiri stressed the importance of organizing workshops on the improvement of social services. He hopes this activity continues for the benefit of all countries in the Middle East.
