Kuwaiti gets death for killing woman in hospital

KUWAIT CITY, May 15: The Criminal Court has issued a death sentence against a Kuwaiti citizen in absentia for killing a Kuwaiti woman in her 30s at Mubarak Hospital. The court refrained from penalizing the second, third and fourth defendants, and instead ordered them to pay bail bond of KD 1,000 each and sign a pledge of good conduct.

The court referred the civil aspect of the case to the appropriate court of jurisdiction. After the court session, the plaintiff counsel Attorney Mohammad Taleb affirmed that he will submit a petition on behalf of the deceased’s heirs for a collective compensation of KD 50,000. Meanwhile, the Criminal Court presided over by Judge Adnan Al- Jasser acquitted a young Kuwaiti citizen who was accused of possessing hashish and drunken driving.

According to the case files, the in charge officer testified that he was patrolling Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area when he noticed the suspect’s vehicle parked beside the road. While questioning the suspect about the reason why he stopped beside the main road, the officer noticed his disoriented state and searched the vehicle to find a packet of cigarettes rolled with substances suspected to be hashish. Defense counsel Lawyer Ahmad Jafar requested the court to acquit his client, citing illegal search and arrest procedures by the officer without an order from the Public Prosecution as the reason.

Students molested: Lawyer Al- Jawhara Abbas Abdulrida has filed a case against an African teacher of a private school, accusing him of molesting three female students. Lawyer Al-Jawhara explained in the case that the suspect molested the three students and demanded one of them to arrange alcohol and women for them to indulge in immoral activities together
