‘Resigned’ MPs blast colleagues

KUWAIT CITY, May 14: Resigned MPs Riyadh Al-Adsani and Abdul Kareem Al-Kandari at a recent seminar organized by Kuwait Lawyers Association on the ‘Unification of Public Summons’ affirmed that the position of the National Assembly is missing in the current period, reports Al-Watan Arabic daily. Al-Adsani bombarded the incumbent MPs with allegations, claiming most of the MPs have been programmed to accept every decision the government issues, even with interrogation.

He expressed fear over many laws that have yet to be approved since the parliament remains dominated by the government, noting that government controls the activities of parliament. He wondered the kind of role the incumbent parliament plays in the system.

Meanwhile, MP Abdul Kareem Al-Kandari discussed laws regarding unification of public summons that generally have to do with lawyers, affirming the law aims to restore the independence of the judiciary and the support institutions, but government has since declined to approve the law with many justifications.
