Crackdown on vice; Couples caught drunk

KUWAIT CITY, May 13: In their continuing campaign against vice, Hawalli security operatives from May 4-10 arrested 12 people for theft and drug addiction, 38 residency law violators, 80 absconders, and 48 others without personal identification documents, and referred 51 individuals to the Deportation Center, reports Al- Seyassah daily. Also, the officers issued 76 traffic citations, impounded three vehicles, and provided assistance to 115 individuals.

Couples caught drunk: Police have arrested four young people — two Arab men and two British women — for consuming alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. The couples were caught while driving in a suburb of Salwa. The daily added the motorist was ordered to stop for reckless driving and while issuing a citation police found the occupants of the car under the influence of alcohol. During interrogation the four people admitted they were on their way home after a house party in the area. The ‘couples’ have been referred to the Criminal Investigation Department.

Syrian blackmailed: Police are looking for an unidentified person for allegedly blackmailing a Syrian. The man has threatened to post the family photos on the social networking website, reports Al-Rai daily. In his complaint to the Jahra Police Station, the Syrian said he received a message and photos of his family from an unidentified person. In the message he asked for KD 2,000 and if he fails to pay the sender threatened to post the pictures on the website. The complainant has given police the cell phone number of the person.
