‘Cannot live with guilt’; Detained for beard

KUWAIT CITY, May 11: An Egyptian caretaker of a building is said to have surrendered to the Abu Halifa Police Station, reports Al- Shahed daily. The man is said to have admitted to throwing his friend from the 10th floor of the building following a quarrel between them. The case was registered as a suicide. The caretaker told police he could no longer live with the guilt in his heart.

Detained for beard: The Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry Lieutenant-General Suleiman Al-Fahd has ordered the detention of a police officer in the rank of Major for growing his beard without permission, reports Al-Rai daily quoting knowledgeable security sources. The source said Al-Fahd has also warned a lieutenant-colonel for the same reason and has issued strict instructions that disciplinary action will be taken against those who violate the laws especially if they grow beards more than 1.5 centimeters long.
