Resigned MP Ali affirms decision to quit politics Huraiji submits draft regarding housing law

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: The resigned MP Ali Al-Rashed has affirmed his decision to retire from politics, describing the next political phase as dangerous, reports Alam Alyawm daily. On the sidelines of a reception ceremony held at his diwaniya, Al-Rashed said he has learned from his mistakes, explaining that he does not have the ability to continue in the political arena.

He added that there are many people qualified enough in Kuwait to work in politics. Meanwhile, the resigned MP Safa Al-Hashim says she has been patient for a while but she refused to accept the cancellation of an interrogation without referring it to the Constitutional Court.

She affirmed that the deteriorating role of the parliament and the policies adopted by the government are the key reasons for the lack of development in Kuwait. In the meantime, MP Saud Al-Huraiji has submitted a draft law for amending the fourth paragraph of Article 14 in Law 47/1993 related to the housing welfare, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

According to the draft law, housing welfare has to be provided to Kuwaiti women married to non- Kuwaitis based on the rules and regulations to be issued by the Board of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare, referring to the principle of equality between the two genders as guaranteed by the Constitution in Article 7. The draft law indicates that Housing Welfare Law 47/1993 limits the right to accommodation only to Kuwaiti women married to Kuwaitis and not those married to non-Kuwaitis.
