Govt pulls Article 17 docus of more than 100 protesters

 KUWAIT CITY, May 5: Director-General of the General Department for Citizenship and Travel Documents Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has issued a decision to withdraw more than 100 Article 17 passports of people who took part in the recent demonstrations in Taima and Sulaibiya, reports a local Arabic daily.

The suspects were also allegedly involved in assaulting securitymen and shooting at them. The move, according to security sources, is to send a message to those who violate the law that they will be strictly dealt with by tightening the noose, especially in light of some crimes which have taken place recently. The source said the move also aims to ensure safety and security and restore the prestige of the country

Sting op traps Syrian: The Kuwait International Airport police have arrested a Syrian, reportedly wanted by law in several cases of fraud, for attempting to bribe an employee to help him leave the country, reports Al- Anba daily. A security source said, the arrest came after the employee informed the director of the Airport Security Department Sheikh Malek Al-Sabah who set a trap for the man, filmed the entire scenario and caught the man red-handed while offering KD 2,000 to the employee in the car parking lot of the airport.
