Two Arabic dailies hit stands as ban ends

KUWAIT CITY, May 4: Al-Watan and Alam Al-Youm Arabic daily newspapers resumed distribution today as the two-week suspension imposed on them for violating the Attorney General’s decision to prohibit the publication of news on a controversial case has ended.

Meanwhile, Fast -Track Judge Shareef Abu Dharaer postponed deliberations on a petition filed by the two dailies until May 18 to announce the ruling. In yesterday’s session, lawyers for both dailies, Attorneys Rashed Al-Rad’aan and Nawaf Sari, requested the court to revoke the decision of the Ministry of Information to suspend the two dailies due to lack of legal basis and misinterpretation of the law.
