Customs, Interpol join forces to curb regional drug peddling

KUWAIT CITY, May 2: A team from the regional Interpol on Thursday met officials of the General Customs Department in the customs auditorium to exchange ideas. In a press statement, Head of the Information Exchange Office Abdullah Al-Fares affirmed that both parties have agreed on exchanging information through direct contact with the Interpol. He disclosed the Interpol will coordinate in areas relating to research, investigation and exchange of information concerning drug traffickers in countries where drug smuggling is rampant. He informed the meeting, attended by Director General of Customs Khaled Al-Seif, tackled the most advanced methods of apprehending drug traffickers. He added the officials resolved to organize training courses and workshops for customs officers to be acquainted with other methods of eliminating drug trade.
