‘Health’ launches special free medical apps for smartphones Residents to be reminded about appointment, place of vaccinations

KUWAIT CITY, April 30: The Ministry of Health today launched a special free medical application for the Smartphones through which citizens and residents will be reminded about their appointment for vaccinations, the place of vaccination and the potential availability at hospitals and health centers throughout Kuwait. This was disclosed by the Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Services at the Ministry of Health, Dr Mohammed Al-Khashti on the sidelines of the launch of World Immunization Week which was held under the slogan ‘Be briefed on the latest information,’ at the Abdul Hadi Clinic in Yarmouk. He explained this free service allows the users to know the location of health center or hospital where the vaccination can be received according to the residential area of the child.

Speaking about the global immunization week Khashti said the “Vaccinations have saved the lives of millions of people of all ages, especially in their childhood as it is considered one of the most effective drugs with the least side effects.” He asserted, the State of Kuwait represented by the Ministry of Health always keeps pace with the latest scientific developments in the area of vaccinations. He noted the vaccines have their own importance at medical level and leaves a positive impact on the economy since it is considered as one of the most successful health inventions and costeffective given the health complications the infectious diseases can cause. He said the ministry strives to protect children from various diseases and that immunization is considered one of the best ways to prevent these diseases.

Advisor in the Office of the Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Rashid Al-Owaish said the Ministry of Health continues to maintain high levels of immunization which are essential because the vaccinations have helped prevent diseases such as measles, diphtheria, neonatal tetanus, etc. He indicated, the immunization in Kuwait has by far surpassed the target given by the World Health Organization.

He explained the ministry keeps pace with the latest developments on the prevention area of infectious diseases as per the directives of the global authorities. Chairman of the Awareness of Communicable Diseases and Corona Virus Committee at the Ministry of Health Dr Ghalia Al- Mutairi speaking during the event said the World Health Organization is keen to encourage the use of mobile phone and Internet technologies as an alternative to fax ads campaigns and events.

She noted, the committee in cooperation with the talented Kuwaiti youth and encouragement and support from the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi has done a free application for smartphones which is linked to the Ministry of Health website and it can download the vaccine application from Google website or from Apple store for free. She also discussed one of the most important advantages of the application as it can be used to identify the place and the time of children’s vaccination in addition to the flexibility of dealing with the program.
