‘Labour’ will strictly apply new co-op law

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will strictly apply the new Cooperative Societies Law on all cooperative societies. Sources close to the ministry confirmed the strict implementation of the law implies tighter administrative and financial supervision to prevent the recurrence of previous problems.

Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for the Cooperative Sector Dr Matter Al-Mutairi sent a letter to Shamiya and Shuwaikh cooperative societies on the cancellation of the board membership of Barrak Al-Obaid, Abdullah Al-Anbae’a, Abdullah Al-Rashid and Hamad Al-Hameed due to frequent absences in board meetings without a valid reason as per ministerial decision number 166/2013. The board of directors should then summon the first and second reserve members who won the next highest number of votes in the last elections to complete the required number of members.
