Youths devise new ways to fulfil their hunger for speed

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: Some youths who usually exceed the speed limit while driving have surpassed all limitations and taken up unprecedented steps to cover up the crimes they commit in the streets, reports Al- Seyassah daily. It has been reported that scores of reckless youths have embarked on campaign to disable the function of radars (traffic cameras) using garbage containers to obstruct the viewfinder and making it impossible for the device to capture cars that go beyond the speed limit.

The phenomenon is observed in areas such as Adan, Andalous and Firdous, in addition to the Second Ring Road where illegal car racing activities are normally conducted, the daily noted, indicating the youths have been using the method to evade legal measures. Pictures showing the viewfinders covered by garbage containers have been circulating on social networking sites to mock some users who are claiming that the issue is in the hand of Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali. The traffic chief has since been urged to intervene in the issue and provide space for the youth to race without falling into continuous traffic violations.
