Christian faithful in Kuwait celebrate Easter

KUWAIT CITY, April 20: Hundreds of Christian faithful took part in the Easter Sunday celebrations at the Holy Family Cathedral in downtown Kuwait City.

The cathedral was packed to capacity and in spite of the service beamed to the halls and the Cathedral compound many faithful failed to get a clear view of the altar while some even had to suffice by standing outside the compound wall.

The main celebrant of the Paschal Vigil — commemorating the death and resurrection of Prophet Jesus Christ (PBUH), signifying the ultimate triumph of good over evil and the defeat of man’s greatest enemy, death — was Bishop Camillo Ballin Roman Catholic Vicar Apostolic of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia. His Holiness Camillo Ballin in his homily spoke about the significance of Easter Sunday and why is it celebrated.

Even though Easter is a Christian festival, it has its roots in many pagan beliefs and customs. It is one of the most important occasions when the family gathers together and share the joy of togetherness.
