103 arrested Fahaheel, Ahmadi raids

 KUWAIT CITY, April 16: The Jahra police during a security check at the Fahaheel Fish Market and Ahmadi Industrial Area are said to have arrested 103 people of various nationalities for violating residence laws, reports Al-Rai daily. All those arrested have been referred to the Deportation Center.

Cashier robbed: Police are looking for an unidentified thief who allegedly sprayed foam in the eyes of the cashier of the branch of the Al-Qasr Cooperative Society and escaped with the money, reports Alam Alyawm daily. The daily added, the foam blinded the cashier for a few minutes and before he realized what was happening, he discovered the suspect had escaped with KD 1,100 from the cash machine. According to the co-workers the suspect was armed with a gun, looked abnormal and threatened to shoot them and the customers if they raised alarm.

Kuwaiti trio freed: The three Kuwaitis who had been kidnapped in Syria doing and were allegedly moved to Turkey have reportedly been released following negotiations with the kidnappers and payment of ransom money, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has affirmed that the negotiations with the kidnappers had been successful thus putting an end to the crisis. The daily said the kidnappers had asked for a ransom of 1 million Euros ($1.38 million. According to reliable sources the Kuwaitis are expected to arrive in Kuwait within the next two days after completion of routine security procedures by the Turkish authorities. Earlier it was reported it was not clear why the Kuwaitis were abducted or who had abducted them. However, following reports that the men were taken to Turkey, Kuwait’s Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Khaled al-Jarallah had told reporters Kuwait had been in contact with authorities in Turkey to try to secure their release.
