Asian expat held for gambling in Jahra

 KUWAIT CITY, April 16: Securitymen arrested an Asian expatriate in Jahra Investment Area for gambling. The suspect is said to have issued receipts to interested persons to gamble and conducted the draw using serial number on the receipts. Sources said officers found on him KD 200 cash and ten books related to gambling during the arrest. Apparently, Jahra Security Directorate received complaints from several individuals about the activities of the suspect who invited people to gamble and conducted a draw every Tuesday at Jahra Investment Area. Acting on information, Jahra Security Chief Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah ordered his arrest. Officers seized KD 200 cash and ten books related to gambling from his possession. He was referred for deportation.

Drug peddler held: Officers from Drug Control General Department arrested an Asian expatriate for peddling in drugs. The arrest follows a tip-off the sector received about his drug-trafficking activities. The suspect was nailed inside his sponsor’s house with 240 narcotic pills and 40 grams of heroin in his keep, ready for sale. He admitted ownership of the contraband and was referred to the relevant authority.

Jeep on fire: Fire engulfed a Jeep along Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, opposite Sabah Hospital, without causing injuries. Securitymen, firefighters and paramedics rushed to the location after the Operations Room at the Ministry of Interior received information on the incident. The fire-out operation was completed within a short span of time. No casualties or injuries were reported. Initial investigations revealed an electrical fault in the vehicle caused the fire. All the necessary steps were then taken to remove the vehicle from the road to put traffic flow back to normal.
