MoSAL refers 278 files of firms to GID due to violations

KUWAIT CITY, April 15: The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor has referred 278 files of companies to the General Investigation Department in the Ministry of Interior due to violations against Private Sector Labor Law number 6/2010, reports Al-Jarida daily quoting sources from the ministry.

According to sources, the erring companies have failed to update their data while their physical addresses licensed by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to operate their activities do not match their actual addresses; thereby, making it difficult to conduct inspections. Sources said the companies’ files have been suspended and referred for investigation to take the necessary measures against them.

Sources added the ministry also found out that these companies do not actually need the employees registered under their files - a violation of Section B of law number 30/1995 issued as amendment to some articles in law number 38/1964 which is related to private sector labor.

Sources confirmed Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Sabeeh has given direct and strict orders to immediately refer companies suspected of involvement in human trafficking, hiring workers from abroad without providing them with jobs or letting them work for other establishments, as well as the bogus companies, to the concerned authorities for legal action.
